Razzle Dazzle by Mr OneTeas

From 4th November 2024
Quai Louis II, Port Hercule, Monaco

Street art is taking a new turn in Monaco, thanks to an exceptional collaboration between Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco and the artist Anthony Alberti, also known as “Mr OneTeas”. In a daring and innovative project, this alliance aims to revitalize five unused mooring bollards, located within the prestigious Port Hercule in the Principality of Monaco.

Mr OneTeas, whose work often critiques consumer society and environmental issues with humor and insight, brings his artistic vision to the maritime world. The project consists of customizing 5 unused bollards from the Quai Louis II by painting them with the contrasting patterns of “Razzle Dazzle”: a disruptive camouflage technique used during the last century, notably during the two world wars, to hinder the enemy in the identification of the type of vessel and estimation of its speed and heading (optical effect).

The Razzle Dazzle, with its intricate geometric patterns and stark contrasts, has not only served as a concealment technique, it has also inspired artists and designers throughout the ages. With this project, Mr OneTeas reinterprets this historical aesthetic, merging contemporary and urban art, to transform this port equipment into works of art while highlighting Monaco’s commitment to Art and the Environment, by introducing a touch of creativity and reflection into public space.

Through this collaboration, Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco and Mr OneTeas show that Art and the port space can intertwine in a significant way, bringing beauty, history and reflection to the heart of daily life.
